A Collection of Antique and Vintage Metal Tins and Japanned Boxes including Nash-Smith Coffee - This collection comprises various utilitarian and decorative metal containers dating from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Featured is a cylindrical lithographed Wedding Breakfast Coffee tin from the Nash-Smith Coffee and Spice Co. of Denver, Colorado. The group includes a black japanned spice box containing six individual circular canisters. Also present is a small tortoiseshell-patterned cash box with a vibrant orange-painted interior, internal lidded compartments, and an accompanying key. Several black japanned document and lockboxes are included, featuring gold-tone pinstripe detailing, handles, and various latch mechanisms. Other notable items include a domed tin with hand-painted floral motifs, a wall-mounted green painted bin, an ornate silver-tone box with embossed geometric patterns, and a weathered metal jug with a fixed handle. Materials are primarily tin and steel with finishes including lithography, stenciling, and japanning.
