Vintage Monroe Shock Absorber Safe-Aire Manual Testing Station Advertising Display - This mid-20th-century automotive service item is a Monroe Shock Absorber manual testing station and point-of-sale advertising display. The unit features a steel barrel base finished in blue with yellow lithographed graphics. The barrel includes the Monroe winged logo and slogans such as Safety Knows No Season, Is Your car Safe?, We Offer Complete Safety Inspection, and Let Us Check Your Shock Absorbers Now. Mounted to the top of the barrel is a manual mechanical testing apparatus used to demonstrate the performance of Monroe shocks. The tester is constructed with a blue-painted steel frame, a heavy-gauge yellow coil spring, and two individual shock absorbers in black and blue-grey. It is operated by a yellow lever handle with black rubber grips and includes a translucent plastic safety shield. The blue-grey shock absorber bears stamped markings including TOP with an upward arrow, MADE IN U.S.A., patent numbers including,321,111 and 2,346,083, and the number 3979.
