Vintage Ohio License Plates with Matching Registration Numbers, 1942 and 1945 - This lot features original embossed steel license plates from the state of Ohio, representing the years 1942 and 1945. Both plates are embossed with the matching registration number AE·36, indicating they belonged to the same registrant during this period. The 1942 plate includes the embossed text OHIO - 1942 along the bottom edge, while the 1945 plate features OHIO - 1945. These items reflect automotive registration practices during and immediately following World War II, a time when Ohio transitioned from issuing pairs to single plates to conserve metal for the war effort. Each plate is manufactured from sheet steel and features a group of standard mounting holes at the corners. The reverse sides show the mirrored impressions of the front embossing. No manufacturer marks are present. Burns in-house shipping is available.
