Vintage Royal Crown Cola Portable Metal Picnic Cooler by Progress Refrigerator Co. - This mid-20th century portable picnic cooler was manufactured by the Progress Refrigerator Co. Of Louisville, Kentucky, as promotional merchandise for Royal Crown Cola. The exterior is constructed of sheet metal with a yellow painted finish. The front panel displays embossed-style lettering reading Drink Royal Crown Cola with the slogan Best by Taste-Test and the registration mark REG U S PAT OFF. The manufacturer name and location are printed at the base of the front panel. The cooler features a galvanized metal interior liner designed for ice storage. It includes a removable galvanized metal interior tray and a front-mounted drain plug with a tethered cap. The unit is fitted with a pivoting metal handle that functions as a locking mechanism for the lid when positioned upright. Corner guards are riveted to the upper edges for structural reinforcement.
