A collection of Howdy Doody Memorabilia and Advertising - This group of memorabilia related to the Howdy Doody television program features various mid-twentieth-century collectibles and advertising materials. The primary item is a pull-string ventriloquist doll, which is attributed to the EEGEE Broadcasting Co. Based on its design and manufacturing style. The doll features a molded plastic head with signature freckles, blue eyes, and a moving jaw mechanism controlled by a pull-string at the back of the neck. It is dressed in a red, yellow, and green plaid shirt, denim-style trousers with a red plastic belt, red cowboy boots, and a red bandana. Affixed to the shirt is a vintage political campaign button that reads I LIKE IKE in blue and red text on a white ground. The collection also includes an embossed advertising tin sign for Howdy Doody Fudge Bars. The sign has a yellow background, a blue central circle, and features the text HOWDY DOODY Fudge Bar Delicious! SAVE ALL HOWDY DOODY BAGS FOR SWELL PRIZES!!. It bears a vertical maker's mark on the right edge for the AAA SIGN CO., COITSVILLE, OHIO. Also present is a framed black-and-white promotional photograph depicting Buffalo Bob Smith in western attire holding the Howdy Doody marionette. The photograph is housed in a black frame with a gold-tone inner lip. Included ephemera consists of vintage foil-lined paper wrappers for Howdy Doody De Luxe Ice Cream Bars, marked as manufactured by Gehl's Guernsey Farms, Inc., Milwaukee, Wis. Completing the set is a clear polyethylene produce bag for Washington State delicious Apples featuring Howdy Doody and the character Flub-a-Dub, marked for The J.F. Sanson & Sons Co., Cleveland, Ohio. The bag bears a handwritten note reading C. 1950s. Tin Sign: 12 inches x 9 inches Framed Photograph: 10.25 inches x 8.25 inches.
