A Pair of Vintage Jones Speedways Big Car Auto Racing Programs, Logan, Ohio, circa 1940s-1950s - This lot consists of a pair of original four-page official racing programs for ”Big Car Auto Races” presented by Jones Speedways, Inc. and sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter No. 68 of Logan, Ohio. These programs document regional open-wheel racing in the post-World War II era, listing events at tracks in Logan, Newark, Marysville, and London, Ohio. The interior pages feature entry lists for Event No. 1, including notable period drivers such as Cowboy Kimball, Ned Devoe, Don McClain, Norman Booher, Woodie Hill, and Eddie Rayburn. The cars are identified as various ”Specials” utilizing Winfield, Hal, and Roof components. These specific examples are highly desirable as they serve as original field records; both are extensively hand-annotated in pen and pencil with qualifying times, driver substitutions, and specific results for the 10-lap heats and the 20-lap feature race. Program 1 is marked ”Sept 8” and signed ”Orville” on the cover, while Program 2 includes a Newark, Ohio, owner's address. The back covers feature a standard guide to racing flag signals..5” x 8.5” (folded).
