A Group of Homer Laughlin Historical America Red Transferware Ceramics and a Vintage Avon President Lincoln Box - This group of collectibles includes a group of pieces of red transferware ceramics and a vintage cardboard retail box. The ceramics are manufactured by the Homer Laughlin China Co. as part of the Historical America series, featuring red transfer-printed scenes on a cream-colored semi-vitreous earthenware body. The lot consists of pedestal-based sauce boats and small round bowls. The sauce boats feature an integral scroll handle decorated with a rose motif and a scene depicting a large crowd gathered before a building with a prominent archway. The bowls feature scalloped rims with a floral rose border and a central scene of Abraham Lincoln splitting rails. The bases of the bowls bear a red transfer mark within a scrolled cartouche that reads: HISTORICAL AMERICA, LINCOLN AS A RAIL SPLITTER. 1834, HOMER LAUGHLIN CHINA CO., MADE IN U.S.A. The set is completed by an original retail box for Avon President Lincoln Wild Country After Shave (6 fl. oz.), which features a portrait of Lincoln and the text of the Gettysburg Address on the reverse.
