An Assortment of Antique and Vintage Shipwright, Folk Art, and Souvenir Tools - This lot features a diverse collection of maritime, industrial, and folk art implements, many of which are characteristic of 19th and early 20th-century shipwright tools. The grouping is centered by an early cylindrical copper vessel with horizontal reinforcement bands, soldered seams, and a funnel-shaped top with a narrow spout, possibly used as a shipboard chemical sprayer or storage container. The collection includes a significant piece of folk art: a commemorative wooden axe with a green-painted head bearing hand-inked inscriptions including A.B. Bogue Feb 7 1899 and Rozella Dawson March 14. A mid-century souvenir mallet from the Lost Canyon Trading Post on Route 66 in Grants, New Mexico, retains its original paper label and features hand-painted motifs. Other wooden items include a large primitive maul with a rectangular head, a hand-carved paddle, a small wooden axe with red paint remnants, and a hand-carved wooden knife. A heavy cast metal decorative arrowhead is included, featuring a small recessed stamp with the letters U S A on the tang. The lot is completed by a set of miniature cast metal tools including a bit brace, claw hammer, garden rake, pincers, and an L-square.
