Bidspirit auction | A Group of Late 19th
A Group of Late 19th to Mid-20th Century United States and Confederate Style Flags - This collection consists of historical and commemorative flags, including a 45-star United States flag, two 48-star United States flags, and a Confederate style battle flag. The 45-star flag dates to the 1896-1908 period and is constructed of lightweight gauze or thin cotton. The stars are arranged in a staggered pattern of six rows in an 8-7-8-7-8-7 configuration. The two 48-star flags represent the official national ensign from 1912 to 1959, featuring stars in a standard 6x8 grid. One 48-star flag is a smaller handheld or display size, while the other is a larger format; both appear to be made of printed cotton. The Confederate style flag is a mid-20th-century commemorative or display piece featuring the Southern Cross design with a group of white stars on a blue saltire over a red field. It is finished with a white canvas hoist and brass-toned grommets. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on any of the items. Small 48-star flag: 17 inches by 29.5 inches Confederate style flag: 22 inches by 35.5 inches. Burns in-house shipping is available.
