Bidspirit auction | Native American Mortar Stone

Native American Mortar Stone - This large Native American mortar stone is composed of a dense, fine-grained greenish-gray rock, likely a variety of limestone or dolomite. The specimen features a shallow, smooth depression on its primary face, indicative of its use as a grinding tool for processing grains, seeds, or pigments. The exterior of the stone shows natural weathering with areas of yellowish-tan patina and rough-hewn edges. Interestingly, An of the side faces exhibits a prominent radial, plumose pattern of striations emanating from a central point, a feature visually consistent with geological shatter cones. The object is a solid, three-dimensional block that has been preserved in its natural state. Length: 8 inches Width: 5.5 inches Height: 7 inches. Burns in-house shipping is available.
