Collection of North American Projectile Points and Assorted Geological Specimens - This lot comprises a diverse collection of North American lithic artifacts, geological specimens, and a contemporary decorative item. The collection includes a group of projectile points, a pendant, and a box containing a group of assorted stones. The lithic component consists of knapped stone projectile points. The specimens are crafted from various materials including chert, flint, and potentially obsidian. Typologies represented include side-notched, corner-notched, and stemmed bases, characteristic of various North American cultural periods ranging from the Middle Archaic to Woodland eras. A notable large, grey chert side-notched point exhibits clear pressure flaking along its margins. Another specimen in tan chert features distinct serrated edges. A group of these points are mounted with adhesive to a wood bark panel, while three are mounted to a smaller wood panel. The decorative item is a circular, light-colored medallion or pendant featuring a raised/embossed turtle motif in the center. It is suspended from a natural-fiber twine cord. The uniformity of the piece and the mounting method indicate it is a modern artisan or souvenir item. The geological collection is housed in a cardboard box containing a group of assorted unworked and partially worked stones. Identified specimens include river-worn pebbles, fragments of petrified wood, a large porous volcanic rock (scoria or pumice), a smooth reddish-brown cobble, and various pieces of lithic debitage resulting from stone tool manufacture. A large, dark grey stone shows evidence of potential primitive shaping or use-wear. The largest projectile point measures approximately 3.25 inches in length.
