A Collection of Historical and Commercial Volumes including History of Hocking Valley, Ohio (1883) - This collection includes several large-format volumes of historical and commercial interest. The primary work is History of Hocking Valley, Ohio, published by the Inter-State Publishing Co., Chicago, 1883. This volume is bound in brown leather with a decorative gilt-stamped medallion on the front board and gilt lettering and ornamentation on the spine. It contains sketches of cities, villages, and townships, along with portraits and biographies of representative citizens. Also present are multiple editions of Heroes of the Dark Continent, a work chronicling African exploration. These include a New Edition in red publisher's cloth and a separate large-format volume in embossed leatherette featuring pictorial scenes of palm trees and explorers. The collection is further comprised of a large commercial trade volume: Belknap Hardware and Manufacturing Co. Catalogue No. 100, issued from Louisville, Kentucky. This centenary anniversary catalog features extensively illustrated pages of period hardware, including cast iron and steel ranges, as well as specialized equipment such as miners' tools, breast augers, and notched steel post drills.
