Bidspirit auction | Depression Era Uranium Glass Citrus

Depression Era Uranium Glass Citrus Reamer Insert - This item is a pressed glass citrus reamer or juicer insert, typical of American kitchenware produced during the Depression era, circa 1930s. The piece is manufactured from uranium glass, also commonly referred to as vaseline glass, which contains uranium oxide. This composition causes the glass to exhibit a bright neon green fluorescence when viewed under ultraviolet (black) light. The form consists of a central conical reamer with sharp vertical ridges designed for juicing citrus fruits, situated on a circular base with molded drainage slots to strain seeds. There are no maker marks or manufacturer stamps visible in the provided image. As a pressed glass item, the base is expected to be smooth or show mold lines rather than a pontil scar.
