Rookwood Pottery Matte Green Bird Relief Vase Shape 6551 - A mid-century American art pottery vase produced by the Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The vessel features a bulbous, ovoid form with a short neck and flared rim. The exterior is decorated with low-relief figures of birds in flight set against a ground of vertical fluting or reeding. The entire piece is finished in a uniform matte celadon green glaze. The base is impressed with the standard Rookwood factory mark, featuring the RP monogram surrounded by fourteen flames. Below the factory mark are the Roman numerals XLV, indicating a production year of 1945, and the shape number 6551. Height: 6.75 inches. Burns in-house shipping is available.
