A Collection of Ceramic Animal Figures Including Rookwood and Mosaic Tile Company - This group of animal-themed ceramic pieces includes one large planter and turtle figurines. The collection features two contemporary Rookwood Pottery turtle figures. The first is a yellow-green turtle standing on an oval base, marked on the underside with the Rookwood sun logo, dated 1989, and bearing the initials LCG. The second Rookwood figure is a matching form finished in a cream-colored glaze with gold-toned highlights in the shell crevices, marked with the sun logo, dated 1990, and featuring the initials TGG. Also included are three pieces from The Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville, Ohio. These consist of a small turtle-shaped dish finished in a metallic iridescent blue-black glaze and a pair of turtle trinket boxes with removable shell lids finished in an off-white glaze. All three Mosaic Tile Company items feature the company's circular trade mark on the base. The final item is a large figural frog planter with a warty skin texture and lily-leaf patterns across its back. It is finished in a deep green glaze and features an incised monogram on the underside consisting of overlapping letters that appear to include an R and an S or W.
