A Collection of Rookwood Pottery Owl Themed Bookends and Trinket Dishes - A collection of glazed ceramic owl-themed items produced by Rookwood Pottery of Cincinnati, Ohio. The group includes a pair of bookends and two trinket dishes. The matching bookends (Model 2655) depict owls perched on a base shaped like a closed book, finished in a uniform cream matte glaze. The two leaf-shaped trinket dishes or small trays (Model 1084) feature a perched owl on the rim; one is finished in a mottled brown gloss glaze, and the other is finished in a cream gloss glaze. All pieces feature the incised Rookwood company mark consisting of a reversed R and P surrounded by fourteen flames. The cream trinket dish is marked with model number 1084 and the Roman numerals XLIII, signifying a 1943 production date. The brown trinket dish is marked with model number 1084. One bookend base bears the Rookwood mark with Roman numerals XXXIV (1934) and the model number 2655-, along with an embossed circular monogram that appears to be the letters M and C. Trinket dishes measure approximately 6 inches in length. Bookends measure approximately 6.25 inches in height with a 4.25-inch base width. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Friday, June 26 from 10 am to 5 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
