A Collection of Weller and Roseville Standard Glaze Art Pottery - This collection comprises pieces of American art pottery produced in the early 20th century by the Weller Pottery and Roseville Pottery companies of Zanesville, Ohio. The items are made of high-glazed earthenware, featuring the standard glaze style characterized by a dark brown slip background with hand-painted underglaze decoration of floral and botanical motifs in shades of orange, yellow, and green. The Weller Pottery pieces include items from the Louwelsa line, identifiable by impressed marks showing LOUWELSA in an arc above a stylized W and the name WELLER. These pieces include a large bulbous vase decorated with oak leaves and acorns (marked 982, 1), a handled candle holder with orange flowers (marked X 108), a footed oval bowl with yellow flowers (marked 98), and a squat rounded vase with yellow flowers. A cylindrical mug featuring high-relief grapes is marked with a circular WELLER FLORE stamp. An asymmetric twisted vase is marked with WELLER in a circular arrangement and incised with the number 408 and the character K. The Roseville Pottery pieces consist of items from the Rozane Ware line. A tall cylindrical vase is decorated with a yellow flower and marked with ROZANE above the numbers 191 and 7, with an incised X. A handled ewer with a ruffled rim is decorated with oak leaves and acorns and bears a circular ROZANE WARE mark on the base.
