Art Glass Motto Paperweight From A Friend Attributed to Gentile Glass - This hand-blown clear glass paperweight contains an internal decorative display featuring a central motto. The interior design is built upon a base of multicolored glass frit in a variety of shades including red, orange, yellow, green, and blue, creating a mottled end-of-day appearance. Above this frit layer, the words FROM A FRIEND are rendered in opaque white glass arranged around a central capital letter A. The entire inscription is encircled by a stylized white leafy wreath. This specific design is attributed to the Gentile Glass Company of West Virginia, which specialized in similar motto and friendship paperweights throughout the mid-20th century. The clear glass encasement shows various small air bubbles, also known as seeds, trapped within the glass. The base of the piece is ground and polished flat with a slight central concavity.
