1970 Suzuki Violin Co. No. 230 Bowl-back Mandolin with Case - This 1970 bowl-back mandolin was manufactured by the Suzuki Violin Co., Ltd. in Nagoya, Japan. The instrument, identified as Model No. 230, features a traditional Neapolitan-style bowl-back construction with multiple ribs of dark hardwood, likely rosewood, separated by light wood spacers. The soundboard is made of spruce and is decorated with a wood-inlaid pickguard and multi-ply purfling around the edges and soundhole. The mandolin has a mahogany neck topped with a slotted headstock and a dark wood fingerboard with dot inlays. Hardware includes open-gear tuning machines with cream-colored plastic buttons and a stamped metal tailpiece. The internal oval paper label is marked with the registered Suzuki logo and reads Suzuki Violin Co., Ltd. Nagoya Japan, No. 230, 1970.
