Three Volumes of Classic Literature by William Shakespeare, Margaret Mitchell, and William Thackeray - A collection of three hardcover literary volumes in decorative bindings. The first volume is The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, bound in black pebble-grain textured material. The front board features a gold-stamped armorial crest for the Shakespeare family with the motto Non Sanz Droict. The spine is decorated with gilt lettering and a flourish, bearing the mark Selfridges at the base. The interior includes a dedication to Sir Henry Irving and a half-title stating Printed in Great Britain. The second volume is Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind, an International Collectors Library edition. It is bound in dark green textured material with ornate gold-tooled spine panels. The title and author text on the spine are oriented in reverse to the publisher imprint at the foot. The copyright page indicates a 1936 original copyright and a 1964 renewal by Stephens Mitchell. The third volume is William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair: A Novel Without a Hero, also an International Collectors Library edition. The teal textured binding features a gold-stamped repeating lattice and floral pattern on the front board and an ornate gold-tooled spine. The title page identifies the publisher American headquarters in Garden City, New York. All volumes are octavo in size. Each volume approximately 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
