Large Japanese Meiji Period Cloisonne Enamel Crane Charger - This decorative circular charger is crafted using the cloisonne technique, featuring fine brass wires that form intricate cells filled with polychrome vitreous enamels. The central motif depicts a red-crowned crane (Grus japonensis) in a dynamic downward flight pose, rendered in white, black, and red enamels. The bird is set against a vibrant turquoise-blue ground. A formal border composed of stylized floral florets in yellow, orange, and red within scrolling wirework encircles the rim. The reverse of the charger is finished in a similar blue enamel and decorated with a dense, all-over pattern of scrolling wirework, a characteristic feature of Japanese cloisonne from the Meiji period. A metal hanging loop is attached to the upper rim. No maker marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the piece. Diameter: 12 inches.
