Mid-19th Century American Mahogany Ogee Wall Clock by John Biddlecombe - A mid-19th-century American Ogee-style wall clock featuring a mahogany-veneered softwood case with characteristic S-curve molding. The square white-painted metal dial is inscribed J. BIDDLECOMBE. CLINTON. indicating the maker or retailer was John Biddlecombe of Clinton, New Jersey. The dial features black Roman numeral hour markers, two winding arbors, and a decorative starburst cutout in the center that reveals the interior brass mechanical movement. The lower section of the glazed door contains a reverse-painted glass panel depicting two birds on blossoming branches within a foliate wreath, featuring a clear rectangular aperture for viewing the pendulum. The clock is equipped with a weight-driven brass movement and a coiled wire gong. The pendulum rod and brass bob are present. Weights are not included. Width: 15.5 inches.
