Victorian Willcox and Gibbs Treadle Sewing Machine in Walnut Cabinet - This Victorian-era chain-stitch sewing machine was produced by the Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company. The machine is designed with the signature G-shaped cast iron arm finished in black with nickel-plated metal components. The unit is integrated into a solid walnut table featuring a single side drawer and a detached matching wooden cover. The table is supported by an ornate cast iron treadle base with intricate Victorian scrollwork, a large drive wheel, and a foot pedal. The nickel-plated stitch plate bears multiple patent markings, including J. E. A. GIBBS PATENT JUNE 2-57 and WILLCOX and GIBBS SEWING MACHINE CO NEW YORK LONDON PARIS. Other visible inscriptions include BREVETEES S.G.D.G. EN FRANCE ET EN BELGIQUE and patent dates through July 1871. The tension adjustment knob is inscribed THIS TENSION NEVER OILS. The cast iron frame of the base is embossed with PATENTED and dates from the 1870s. You must come pay, load and remove during the pickup window of Thursday, July 9 from 10 am to Noon in Athens, OH.
