Vintage APEC Photomailer Lithographed Tin and Wire Advertising Counter Display Rack - This is a mid-20th-century point-of-purchase counter display rack featuring a double-sided lithographed tin sign for APEC Photomailers. The sign was produced by the American Printing and Envelope Co. of New York, NY. The front face features the text MAIL PHOTOS DRAWINGS PICTURES IN THE SAFE along the top, with the central brand name APEC Photomailer and a bottom banner stating TESTED AND APPROVED BY THE U.S. POST OFFICE. The reverse side contains a detailed chart listing various photomailer sizes, corresponding insert sizes, and weights per 100 units. Manufacturer information is printed at the bottom as American Printing and Envelope Co., 304 East 23rd Street, New York 10, N. Y., with the alphanumeric telephone exchange Gramercy 5-1204. The use of a postal zone instead of a ZIP code suggests a manufacture date prior to 1963. The sign is mounted on a black-painted wire frame designed to sit on a retail counter.
