Antique Western Electric for American Bell Candlestick Manual Desk Telephone - This is an antique manual candlestick desk telephone manufactured by Western Electric for the American Bell Telephone Company, dating to the early 20th century. The unit is a non-dial manual desk stand designed for use with a central operator or PBX system. The body is constructed of metal with a black-enameled finish, while the receiver shell and mouthpiece are made of hard rubber or early Bakelite. The transmitter rim is embossed with the text AMERICAN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY. Stamped into the transmitter pivot is the identifier 329. A distinctive feature of this model is a glass-covered circular aperture in the base containing a handwritten paper insert that reads: You are connected when light is out. This indicates the telephone was equipped with a signal light for office or switchboard use. The lot includes the main pedestal stand, a separate receiver on a hook switch, a detached transmitter mouthpiece, and original cloth-wrapped wiring.Shipping Available.
