19th Century Cast Zinc Figural Group of a Man and Child on Hexagonal Base - This late 19th or early 20th-century figural sculptural group is hollow-cast in zinc, also known as white metal or spelter. The work depicts a bearded man in flowing robes standing with a small child leaning against his right side. The male figure is shown with his right hand raised in a pointing gesture. The figures are set on an integral, flared hexagonal base. The base features six molded panels, each decorated with a central acanthus and foliate motif surrounded by scrollwork. The interior of the base is hollow, revealing the thin-walled construction and casting marks. There are no visible artist signatures, foundry stamps, or edition numbers. A wooden yardstick in the photographs indicates the width of the base. 25 x 18 x 18 inches.You must come pay, load and remove during the pickup window of Thursday, July 9 from 10 am to Noon in Athens, OH.
