A Collection of Vintage United States Military Rank Insignia and Service Stripes - An assortment of vintage United States military sleeve insignia and service stripes, primarily associated with the United States Navy and dating from the late 19th to mid-20th century. The collection features two United States Navy Master-at-Arms Petty Officer 1st Class rank patches, consisting of white embroidered chevrons and a lozenge on a navy blue wool field, a design utilized from approximately 1894 into the early 20th century. The lot includes several sets of three-stripe service stripes, commonly referred to as hash marks: two sets in navy blue on white cotton backing for summer uniforms, two sets in white on navy blue wool for winter uniforms, and two sets of black stripes on yellow felt backing, characteristic of early 20th-century US Army Cavalry or Marine Corps dress uniforms. Two smaller khaki patches with yellow embroidered diamonds are also present. These items appear to be sleeve-stripped, showing evidence of having been removed from period uniforms. No manufacturer marks, contract numbers, or stamps are visible on the fronts or reverses of the pieces. Service stripes length: approximately 8 inches Rank insignia width: approximately 6 inches.
