A Collection of United States Army and Army Air Forces Officer Rank and Branch Insignia - An assortment of United States Army and United States Army Air Forces officer insignia dating from the World War II era through the mid-20th century. The collection includes a mix of rank and branch of service pins along with cloth insignia. Rank insignia is composed of multiple sets of Captain silver-toned bars in both metal and cloth, and Second Lieutenant gold-toned bars. Branch of service insignia features crossed rifles for Infantry, including one piece with the numerical designation 331 for the 331st Infantry Regiment, crossed sabers for Cavalry, and crossed arrows for Special Forces. Aviation is represented by propeller and wing pins. Medical insignia includes caduceus symbols for the Veterinary Corps, marked with a V, and the Army Medical Specialist Corps, marked with an A, alongside multiple SN pins for student nurses. The lot also contains various gold-toned US collar insignia. Construction methods range from early 20th-century screw-back and mid-century pin-back fasteners to later clutch-back butterfly clips. Visible manufacturer markings include the N.S. Meyer Inc. shield logo and sterling silver stamps. One item is marked with the text ACID TEST, indicating silver content.
