Vintage Clausing Manufacturing Co. Metal Lathe on Integrated Stand - This vintage industrial metal lathe was manufactured by the Clausing Manufacturing Co. of Ottumwa, Iowa. The machine is primarily constructed of cast iron and features a headstock equipped with a three-jaw chuck and Timken tapered roller bearings, as indicated by an original manufacturer plate. The unit includes a tool post carriage and a tailstock mounted on a horizontal twin-rail bed. It is fitted with a Furnas Electric Co. forward/off/reverse drum switch, model KS4, manufactured in Batavia, Illinois. Affixed to the headstock housing is an original brass thread and feed chart detailing gear arrangements for cutting between 4 and 600 threads per inch. The lathe is powered by an external electric motor and is mounted on an integrated cast iron stand. The lower storage shelf of the stand contains an assortment of workshop equipment including conduit benders, a toolbox, and miscellaneous metal components.
