Two Vintage Iron Tool Heads Including a Stanley Splitting Maul and a Hewing Broadaxe - This lot features two vintage forged iron tool heads. The first is a heavy splitting maul head manufactured by Stanley. The maul is clearly identified by several stamped markings, including the maker name STANLEY above the model number 56-801. It is further stamped with the numeral 8, denoting its weight in pounds, and MADE IN USA. The head also bears an oval warning stamp that reads WARNING WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES. The second item is a large hewing broadaxe or timber framing axe head. It is characterized by a wide, flared blade and a heavy poll, typical of early barn building and timber construction tools. This head shows no visible maker's marks. Both pieces exhibit a dark, oxidized patina with significant surface pitting and rust consistent with age and heavy utility.
