* Engraved Winchester Model 12 Pump Action Shotgun 12 Gauge with 27.25 Inch Barrel 1948 - This lot consists of a single Winchester Model 12 pump-action shotgun chambered for 12-gauge 2 3/4-inch shells. The firearm is equipped with a 27.25-inch barrel featuring a ventilated rib and an adjustable Hartford Gun Co. Poly-Choke system at the muzzle. The receiver and breech end of the barrel exhibit extensive custom scroll engraving, with receiver panels depicting hunting dogs in the field and flushing game birds. The bolt and shell lifter feature a jeweled, engine-turned finish. The furniture is comprised of a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and a matching forend; a gold-toned oval inlay on the grip cap is engraved with the initials RRU. The butt is finished with a black composite plate embossed with the text Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Stamped markings on the barrel are transcribed as MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U. S. OF AMERICA, WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL, WINCHESTER -TRADE MARK-, MODEL 12 - 12 GA. - 2 3/4 CHAM, and MOD. The matching serial number 1172063 is stamped on both the underside of the receiver and the barrel assembly, confirming production in approximately 1948. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. In house shipping is available. This firearm is at least 50 years old.
