Majolica Figural Indian Chief Tobacco Jar - A two-piece figural tobacco jar or humidor crafted from glazed earthenware. The piece is modeled as a stylized bust of a Native American figure. The figure wears a polychrome headdress featuring a white front band with the word TOBACCO hand-painted in black capital letters. Additional details include a nose ring and a cigar held in the mouth. The jar is constructed in two sections, with the lid comprising the top of the head and the headdress, and the base forming the face and shoulders. The item is finished with polychrome glazes and shows a pronounced crackle effect throughout. The interior is glazed in a uniform light brown tone. The underside of the square base is flat, unglazed, and lacks visible maker marks or signatures. Width: 5.5 inches Height: 6.5 inches. In-house shipping is available.
