Tonggok Studio Korean Inlaid Celadon Sipjangsaeng Storage Jar - This large, ovoid-form storage jar is a 20th-century Korean celadon vessel produced by the Tonggok studio. The jar features a narrow, slightly flared rim and a low, unglazed circular foot. The body is densely decorated with the Sipjangsaeng (Ten Symbols of Longevity) motif, executed using the traditional sanggam (inlaying) technique with black and white clays. The imagery includes cranes, spotted deer, turtles, pine trees, and scrolling clouds amidst stylized mountains and rocks. Small botanical elements are highlighted with donghwa (underglaze copper-red). The vessel is finished with a translucent, jade-green celadon glaze exhibiting a fine, intentional crackle throughout. The base is marked with the two hand-painted characters for Tonggok (桐谷), the studio name used by Yoo Geun-hyeong, a designated Living National Treasure of Korea. A faint red square seal mark is also visible on the base. Mouth Diameter: 3 inches. In-house shipping is available. Pickup is Friday, Aug. 28, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH.
