Victorian Wooden Collar Box with Gutta Percha Dog Motif Lid - This Victorian-era wooden collar box features a molded gutta-percha lid with a high-relief depiction of a long-haired dog, possibly a Newfoundland or St. Bernard, set within a scrolled decorative border. The lid is attached with two brass-toned rear hinges and a front latch. The interior lid is lined with a tan and brown geometric starburst patterned paper. The underside of the wooden base bears a stamp containing the text SPORTSMAN and CO. N.Y. Accompanying documentation identifies the piece as an 1877 collar box. The body is constructed of light-toned wood. Width: 4.5 inches Depth: 4.5 inches Height: 3.5 inches. In-house shipping is available. Pickup is Friday, Aug. 28, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
