Chinese Gilt and Red Lacquer Deep Relief Carved Wood Panel - A Chinese hand-carved wood panel from the late 19th to early 20th century. This architectural element features deeply undercut relief carving, also known as pierced carving, depicting a detailed narrative figural scene. The composition includes numerous figures in traditional costume, some mounted on horseback, arranged across a landscape featuring bridges, stylized trees, and traditional architecture. The surface is finished with traditional red lacquer and gold leaf gilding. The panel is mounted in a modern composite frame with a black and gold finish and is secured on the reverse with metal tension clips. The back of the wood panel shows raw, unfinished wood with natural age-toning and remnants of red pigment. Width: 16.75 inches Height: 7.625 inches. In-house shipping is available. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
