Bidspirit auction | A Trio of Antique Portraits

A Trio of Antique Portraits Including a Pair of Barton Cincinnati Carved Oak Frames - This collection consists of three early 20th-century studio portraits. The primary piece is a hand-tinted silver gelatin print of a woman wearing a large plumed hat and a blue off-the-shoulder gown, set within a gilded gesso-on-wood frame with scrolling corner ornaments and a turquoise mat. Accompanying this are two matching smaller sepia-toned portraits, likely late albumen or silver gelatin prints, depicting a woman in a full-length Edwardian dress. These two smaller photographs are housed in distinctive shield-shaped carved oak frames featuring beaded oval apertures and gold-painted highlights. Both of the smaller frames retain their original circular black and gold retailer labels on the reverse, which read: 128 W 4TH ST. BARTON CINCINNATI. The large frame is secured at the back with oxidized iron nails. Large frame: 17.5 inches (width) Small frames: 11 inches (height).
