Late Victorian Figural Gilt Spelter and Black Mantel Clock Case - This is a large late 19th-century mantel clock case featuring a central housing with a black-painted finish. The case is adorned with three cast metal figures finished in a gold-toned gilt. The top figural group depicts a woman in late Victorian-era dress holding a sphere. Two mythological merfolk figures holding torches flank the sides of the central housing. The case features a circular opening for a dial and includes a detached brass circular rear access door. The underside is fitted with four non-original white plastic feet. Base width: 11.5 inches Upper shelf width: 16.5 inches Dial opening diameter: 5 inches. Pickup is Tuesday, August 25, from Noon to 7 pm at the home in Marion, OH or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
