Empire Art Co. 1901 Pan-American Exposition Temple of Music Glass Souvenir Paperweight - A commemorative paperweight manufactured by the Empire Art Co. of New York for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition held in Buffalo, New York. The item is constructed from a rectangular clear pressed glass form featuring a molded, scalloped beaded rim. A multi-color lithograph is applied to the underside of the glass and sealed with a red textured paper backing. The central illustration depicts the Temple of Music, famously known as the site of President William McKinley's assassination, surrounded by other exposition buildings, flags, and figures. The top of the image is printed with the text PAN AMERICAN EXPOSITION BUFFALO, N.Y. while the bottom features a decorative scroll containing the words TEMPLE OF MUSIC. The reverse side retains its original red paper backing with a black stamp that reads EMPIRE ART CO. NEW YORK. Length: 4 1/8 inches Width: 2 1/2 inches.
