Arthur Wood English Pottery Horse Head Handle Tavern Scene Pitcher - An Arthur Wood relief-molded earthenware pitcher produced in Staffordshire, England. The bulbous body features a continuous tavern scene depicted in high relief with multiple figures seated at tables. The flaring spout and neck are adorned with molded rose blossoms and a repeating scroll pattern. A prominent handle is modeled in the form of a horse head resting near the rim. The piece is finished in a high-gloss Rockingham-style glaze featuring deep brown tones with greenish-yellow mottling. The base bears the stamped marks MADE IN ENGLAND and WOOD and includes an incised script character. Height: 8.5 inches.
