Two Majolica Style Frog Motif Ceramic Items - This lot consists of two earthenware decorative items featuring frog and lily pond motifs in the majolica style. The first item is a wide-mouthed, globular vessel or planter finished in a high-gloss yellow glaze with uniform crazing. The exterior is decorated with three molded green leaves, and the rim is adorned with eight molded green frogs, all facing inward with small black painted eyes. The interior contains a layer of gray sandy residue. The unglazed base shows a light-colored clay body with an incised letter S and a worn, illegible circular embossed mark. Four green felt pads are attached to the base. The second item is a figurine depicting an anthropomorphic frog reclining on a pointed lily-pad-shaped base. The frog is finished in a chocolate brown gloss glaze and features a small circular opening on its back, designed for use as an incense holder or spill vase. The lily pad base is finished in a contrasting white gloss glaze, and the underside is hollow and unglazed. Jar: 7.5 inches diameter, 6 inches height Figurine: 6.25 inches length, 3.25 inches height.
