A Pair of 19th Century Cast Iron Corinthian Column Capitals - One has a broken piece that fits very well, just needs to be brazed or JB welded back in place. See the photos. These are very nice and early! This lot consists of a pair of large architectural column capitals or pedestals cast in iron. The elements are executed in the Corinthian revival style, featuring dense layers of cast acanthus leaves and scrolling volutes. Both units are hollow-cast with circular openings at the top and bottom. Traces of a previous finish, possibly gold-toned paint or gilding, are visible in the recessed areas of the ornamentation and along the top rims. Small screws are visible on the exterior, used in the original assembly of the cast components. No maker marks or foundry stamps are present. Top Width: Approximately 10 inches Bottom Width: Approximately 14 inches. You must come pay, load and remove during the pickup window of Tuesday, Aug. 25 from Noon to 7 pm at the home in Marion, OH.
