American Empire Transitional Weight-Driven Shelf Clock - A 19th-century American Empire-style weight-driven shelf clock, featuring a wooden case with a dark mahogany finish. The facade is ornamented with silvered and gilded split columns and a hand-carved foliate flourish on the left side. The lower section of the door contains a glass mirror with a circular aperture designed for viewing the pendulum bob. The hand-painted wooden dial features black Arabic numerals, with spandrels decorated with colorful floral motifs. The center of the dial shows a gilded circular reserve with purple and gold foliate accents and includes two winding apertures. The clock is powered by a mechanical weight-driven, two-train (time and strike) movement that strikes on an internal bell. This lot includes two cylindrical cast-iron weights and one brass-faced pendulum bob with a wire rod. Width: 22 inches.
