Dienst, Alpine Mountain Lake Scene, Oil on Canvas - A large mid-to-late 20th-century landscape painting executed in oil on canvas. The work depicts a dramatic alpine scene featuring jagged, snow-capped mountain peaks rising above a glacial valley and a reflective lake. The artist utilized heavy impasto and palette knife applications to create texture in the rocky mountainside, contrasting with smoother, blended brushwork in the sky and water. The painting is signed Dienst in the lower left corner and is identified by a brass nameplate on the lower frame rail inscribed DIENST. It is presented in an ornate gilt-finished composition frame featuring elaborate scrolling foliate and floral motifs in high relief. A functional electric picture light is attached to the top frame rail. The verso retains a partially torn orange manufacturer label from TMC-CHICAGO identifying the work as MOUNTAIN SCENE, with Pict No. S919, Style No. 3950, and a TMC Control code. The frame is stamped MADE IN U.S.A., and the wooden stretcher is stamped with the number 30. 47 x 36 inches.
