Italian Carved Alabaster Bust of a Young Woman - A mid-twentieth century Italian carved alabaster sculpture depicting a young woman in profile. The figure features closed eyes and a serene expression. The bust is detailed with an elaborate, high-standing openwork collar carved to simulate delicate lace and a small floral accent on the bodice. The piece is worked from a single block of translucent white alabaster exhibiting natural veining and a smooth, waxy surface luster. A circular blue ink stamp on the underside of the base reads GENUINE ALABASTER arranged in a semi-circle at the top and MADE IN ITALY at the bottom. Height: 5.5 inches Width: 6.75 inches. Pickup is Tuesday, August 25, from Noon to 7 pm at the home in Marion, OH or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
