A Trio of Victorian Cased Portraits in S. Peck and Co. Union Cases - This collection consists of three mid-19th-century cased images, featuring portraits of Victorian subjects housed in ornate thermoplastic Union Cases. One case retains its original paper manufacturer label identifying it as a Genuine Union Case Improved, manufactured by S. Peck and Co. The largest case is a brown thermoplastic double-portrait case featuring a seated woman in a patterned dress and a standing man wearing a floral vest and large bow tie, both set behind ornate gilt-stamped mats and glass. The exterior of this case features elaborate scrollwork relief. The second case is black thermoplastic and contains the manufacturer label opposite a purple velvet pad with a floral embossed design. The third and smallest case is also black thermoplastic and features a portrait of a woman in an oval mat opposite an orange velvet pad. The cover of this smaller case depicts a relief scene of a hunting dog in a field. All internal components, including mats, glass, preservers, and pads, appear to be original to the cases. Double Case: 3 inches by 2.5 inches (closed); 5.25 inches wide (open) Label Case: 2.5 inches by 2.25 inches (closed); 4.5 inches wide (open) Single Case: 2 inches by 1.75 inches (closed); 3.75 inches wide (open). Pickup is Tuesday, August 25, from Noon to 7 pm at the home in Marion, OH or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. We will charge a $10 fee to bring this lot back to our warehouse in Lancaster, OH for shipping or alternative pickup. Once packed up we will send you an invoice for shipping & handling.
