WW2 Home Guard Mk II 2C Brodie Steel Helmet. Shell painted green and stamped with maker mark ‘J.S.S’ (Joseph Sankey & Sons Ltd, Bilston) to rim. Complete with chinstrap and liner, which has a label with original owner’s name ‘Vic Taylor’ applied. Three holes drilled in rim on one side
making this a Mk II Grade 2C mild steel austerity helmet. Note: Holes drilled in the rim near the chinstrap rivet identified the quality of the steel used in the manufacture, with more holes indicating a lesser resistance to ballistic impact.
