A pair of medals for the Korean War, consisting of: Queen's Korea Medal (1st Type 'Britt Omn') and UN Service Medal with clasp 'Korea'. The Queen's Korea Medal named to: 22288198 Sigmn W C Hambling R Sigs (R Signals). William Carr Hambling was born in St Rollox, Glasgow on 16 January 1932 and died in 1985. Almost certainly a National Serviceman, he was called up shortly after his 18th birthday in 1950 and, after basic and trade training, would have been on active service in Korea as soon as he reached the age of 19 (no British soldier under the age of 19 was permitted to serve in Korea).
