WW2 1940 Dated GAL.48 Hotspur Glider Escape Axe. The General Aircraft Factory produced over a thousand of this aircraft. However, the Horsa was favoured more for the operational landings as they could carry more troops. The is quite a rare axe with the crows foot and date as opposed to the RAF Air Ministry Marked ones.
