Nguyen Loi (1929-2010), inherited and developed the techniques of lacquer board polishing (mài vóc) as well as the craft of engraved lacquer painting (sơn khắc). His paintings often resonate with the spirit of his homeland, the country, and the cultural traditions of the Vietnamese people.
