A Russian Diamond Set Gilded Silver, Enamel and Nephrite Jade Surprise Egg. Russian Imperial style 'Easter Egg' with ovoid silver-gilt mounted body in translucent blue. A hinged cover with a swan finial over a pierced scrolling band of diamonds, a diamond set cypher for Nicholas II flanked by red enamel scrolls, and silver-gilt crowns within laurel wreaths. Raised on a base modelled as a pair of lions over a circular nephrite jade base on four feet. Opens to a naturalistic silver frog with gem set eyes raised on a green enamelled lily pad on a yellow guilloche enamel base. Comes with a wooden display case. 18cm tall. 338.2g total weight.
